The purpose of the Capuchin Burse is to fund the recruitment, formation, education, and mission work of the friars of the Province of St. Mary. A Capuchin Burse is opened in memory of a deceased person, in honor of a saint or blessed, or in the name of any person or organization.
You can open a burse for $100. Contributions in any amount can be made to an existing burse. Each burse is complete at $5,000. A letter is sent to a donor to acknowledge each burse contribution. Also, if requested, an attractive card is sent to the recipient or to the family of the deceased. All contributions are tax-deductible.
Each completed Capuchin Burse becomes a piece of history. Contributions are added to a fund that helps support the formation of priests and brothers, ensuring that there will always be Capuchin Franciscans prepared to minister to those of God’s children most in need. Today, it requires more than $50,000 a year (or 10 completed burses a year) to support each friar in training, a process of formation that can take upwards of seven years. Your generosity is an investment supporting the future of our Capuchin Franciscan friars and the Province of St. Mary.
Contributions to the Capuchin Burses, as well as those in whose name or memory the contributions are made, will forever be a part of the prayers, Masses, and good works of the friars of the Province of St. Mary.
