The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People is a comprehensive set of procedures established by the USCCB in June 2002 for addressing allegations of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy. The Charter also includes guidelines for reconciliation, healing, accountability, and prevention of future acts of abuse. The Charter directs action in all the following matters:

Using current research and root cause analyses of thousands of cases of abuse, Praesidium has identified best practices in each operation and created products and services that help organizations implement these practices.The Provincial Council offers its congratulations to all the members of the Province of St. Mary on being awarded Praesidium’s Certificate of Accreditation after having been independently assessed and judged to have met the highest standards in sexual abuse prevention.
