Today, Oct. 3, 2026, is the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis, known in our tradition as the transitus, or passing from earthly life to eternal life.
We hope you will join us this weekend for our solemnity celebrations at any of our Capuchin parishes in New York and Connecticut.
Here we offer you a meditation on the meaning of the transitus of St. Francis given by Fr. Scott Surrency in 2021 at a vocation discernment weekend held at San Lorenzo Friary in Jamaica Plain, Mass.
