The world classic children’s book The Little Prince has been published in a Chamorro translation.
Fr. Eric Forbes translated the renowned novella, written in French by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and first published in 1943, at the request of the Jean-Marc Probst Foundation for The Little Prince in Lausanne, Switzerland, which finances the translation of the book into as many languages as possible.
The foundation does not make these translations available for sale; rather, it donates them to schools, especially primary schools. The Guam Department of Education received the donation of this Chamorro translation at a news conference held on Jan. 18. The superintendent of the education department and the administrator of the Chamorro Studies Division were present to accept the donation.
Chamorro is the language of Guam and the Northern Marianas.
