All the postulants and their formators of the North American and Pacific Capuchin Conference gathered at Capuchin Retreat in Washington, Mich., Feb. 2-7, for a retreat based on Blessed Solanus Casey and the evangelical counsels.
The participants included the three Capuchin postulancy programs serving North America: Milwaukee, where there are 8 postulants and 2 formators; San Francisco, where there are 4 postulants and 2 formators; and Colorado Springs, where there are 2 postulants and 2 formators. Fr. Dan Crosby of the St. Joseph Province; Fr. Alex Hostoffer of the St. Augustine Province; and Sally McCuen, director of hospitality at the Solanus Casey Center, Detroit, were the main presenters. Wednesday, Feb. 5 included a tour of the Solanus Casey Center, a tour of the Capuchins’ Detroit ministries, and a social and dinner hosted by the fraternity at St. Bonaventure Friary.
“The retreat allowed the postulants to meet before they enter the novitiate this summer; to learn about Blessed Solanus; and to discern more deeply the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience,” said Br. Lake Herman, director of postulant formation in Milwaukee.
